About this
ZE Source was initially funded as a music and sound production agency based in New Caledonia.
One of our client from a production company once came to us asking why it was so difficult to use local music in their productions. She had to deal with artists in an informal way, and this almost systematically raised legal issues, disputes between right holders, and in most of the cases, she ended up paying for some generic royalty free music as an emergency solution.
On the other hand, we were working everyday with musicians and composers struggling to make a living out of their creations.
How could we make professionals willing to pay for music, and artists willing to live out of it, meet in a place where everyone could find unique value?
When we started thinking about developing a royalty-free music platform focusing on South Pacific composers, we didn’t want to transpose other platforms concepts… simply, because we couldn’t.
Choosing to be a musician or composer has always been choosing the hard path. This applies even more to creators in the Pacific facing tiny isolated markets, limited access to cultural infrastructures and the urge to sustain themselves and their family.
So, we wanted the platform to be a real new source of income for them. Today, most online royalty-free music services are subscription based, and give back a 30% revenue share to the composer.
We’re giving back 70% at minimum, and reducing our share as sales grow site-wise.
That way, everyone success can benefit to all the others!
We’re also offering free workshops and consulting to composers so they can professionalize and acquire new skills.
